We have one main charger that is 12000mAh, but it is very bulky and more so intended to be used on travel not on the go everyday. That's precisely why this charger appealed to me- it is smaller in footprint, and thinner, than my Galaxy S4 and easily fits in a pocket while charging. The design is very stylish, which is really important when you have a sleek new S6 or iPhone, and almost looks like a phone from a distance.
I love the indicator lights, so I can instantly read the unit's charge and how fast it fill (4 hours via AC adapter,) as well as the ability to dual charge, though the 2.1 USB port charges at twice the speed of the secondary. I was able to get a full charge from dead in about 35 minutes on the Galaxy S4- and suggest you turn your device off while charging for the fastest results. Out of all of our units, the speed of this charge is at least comparable to, if not, the fastest. It will only get phablets and larger phones a full charge and about 1/3, but is a very generous backup capacity for it's sleek design and portable size. We will be gifting a few of these this holiday season.

- If I had to choose, I actually would rate this higher than Anker's slim charger. Even though is has less capacity (5,000 mAh compared to 6,000 mAh) the charging speed it is capable and the visual aesthetics of the Viivant slim charger far exceed that of Anker's slim charger. 2x usb ports, one which is 2.1Amps is far better than Anker's 1Amp output.
There is a side battery indicator that is activated by a button, four white LED's that show how much charge is remaining. I was able to charge my phone (OnePlus One) from 80% to 100% in a very short amount of time, whereas my Anker actually stuttered and failed to supply enough charge.
Charging up the Viivant is easy, using the same microUSB cable it came with plugged into any USB port. Charging takes a few hours from empty, as is with most other batteries. Additional testing using a Kindle Paperwhite, I charged about 25% off a computer port in about two hours. Using the 2.1Amp output I was able to fully charge the remainder of the paperwhite in just under half an hour with no detriment to the battery.

Just as a note, even if the battery says it is fully charged, it is better to plug it in and wait for all 4 LED's to become solid and then use the ENTIRE battery to do a full cycle on the cells. This will calibrate the battery and prolong the life significantly.
